As the Station Operations Commercial Lead at HS2 you will champion the
development of the stations commercial model to build a sustainable business
and support the customer and staff experience as set out in HS2's Service
Prospectus. The role requires the holder to display mature leadership
capabilities as it drives forward the service design vision to inspire and
create confidence in the approach to station operations with both internal and
external stakeholders.

The job-holder will be the key interface between Railway Operations, the
Technical Directorate, and the Phase 1 delivery vehicle (internally) as well
as external retail and property developers/consultants to deliver the
commercial strategy.

In conjunction with the Head of Station Operations, the job holder will lead
the development of the commercial strategy for the management, retail and
financial models to meet the requirements of the Service Prospectus and HS2's
benefit framework.

About the role:
Accountable for developing all aspects of the station commercial strategy to
maximise the business value of stations aligned with the customer experience
Responsible for developing and agreeing a consistent and coherent commercial
model for each station that maximises the business opportunities for HS2 and
the wider UK rail industry. Responsible for the development of the sustainable
stations framework to deliver benefits realisation of the station as an
activity hub embracing wider commercial and community potential. Accountable
for developing the commercial requirements at stations that will deliver the
user needs as set out in the Service Prospectus. Responsible for developing
relationships with property developers and suppliers to deliver the commercial
model at stations and realise the benefits from the sustainable stations
framework. Accountable for delivering the stations contractual framework with
internal and external industry suppliers e.g. station access agreements.
Accountable for identifying the revenue and cost opportunities for inputs into
operational cost model and financial forecasts including working with the
station leads and infrastructure manager to develop the stations operational
budgets and sustainable business plans. Responsible for developing the
stations retail and facilities requirements and working with the technical
directorate to ensure design and delivery proposals are aligned with the
operational concept and the station operational strategy for each station.
Accountable for developing and implementation of the station commercial KPIs
and associated quality management system.
About you:
Property and retail development experience and awareness of retail trends;
Financially and commercially astute, in order to develop station commercial
plans that realise HS2 benefits; Ability to demonstrate Project Management and
Stakeholder Management capabilities; Ability to write technical and
operational reports; Proven experience in management of a major transit
[oriented combined interchange] or retail facility (not necessarily rail)
achieving sustained high levels of customer satisfaction; Ability to
effectively lead customer and change management programmes; Experience on
implementation of policies, strategies, plans and procedures including
associated assurance processes; Capable of identifying, accepting and
transferring global best practice in relevant disciplines; Knowledge and
experience of managing railway contractual relationships; Flexible approach to
work and able to balance workload;
