Estimator Job Duties
+Prepare cost budgets and cost estimates for new contracts in regards to minor civils and hard landscape projects. Some knowledge of soft landscape works would be an advantage
+Keep existing contracts up to date, including making amendments, providing new cost estimates, and maintaining communication with the client
+Adhere to company standards and guidelines when analysing and providing estimations; focus on maximising profit and customer satisfaction, while minimising any potential risks to the company
+Prepare detailed, well-written proposals for each client, offering competitive and comprehensive cost estimates, and including supplementary documentation
+Maintain relationships with existing clients keeping a sales-minded attitude, and seek out and build relationships with new clients
+Work with contracts manager to help with development, innovation, and creativity on client projects
+Keep detailed records of all estimation documentation, including site assessments and contract terms; update any existing contracts immediately upon agreement of new terms with client
+Prepare and submit financial documents
+Balance multiple proposals and estimations at once, ensuring each reaches the client by the deadline
+Liaise with other company departments to maintain business development and continuously innovate new profitable outcome.
+Be prepared to undertake site visits at pretender stage to meet clients, discuss requirements and in taking accurate on site measures and photographs and also undertake post completion site visits to get photographs in order to draw up sales literature, project profiles and help the company build up a portfolio of completed projects; profiles that can be used to populate to web site and be used in social media
+Understanding of specifications and the effect of these on a tender
+Understanding of drawings and ability to carry out take offs from these drawings using a scale rule and software provided by the company and deliver accurate measures in a timely manner.
+Willingness to utilise and use company software for estimating and contract management. We use bespoke software packages developed by Eque 2. Training will be offered.
+IT competent in particular Excel, Word and Outlook. You must be able to demonstrate this at interview stage and be willing to undertake a number of small tests.
+Aid in the maintenance of procurement websites, update company website and make follow up calls to help promote the company and follow up on tender submissions.
+Willingness to draw up new systems and make suggestions based on current work practises to aid continuous improvement within the estimating and business development department.

Qualifications and training

Sound basic education including attainment of GCSE grade C or above in English Language and Mathematics. Good knowledge of Microsoft systems to include Word and Excel. Willingness to update skills and professional development by undertaking further training as required.

Work with the managing director to ensure all holidays are covered.
Helping to deliver consistent tender submission avoiding where at all possible peaks and troughs of tendering.
Organised and methodical approach to work and ability to prioritise and manage your workload.
Attendance at external business development meetings, to promote the company in line with stated company policies and procedures.
Ability to communicate well and confidently on all levels using phone, email and letter.
Good record keeping at all times, records produced in a timely manner to keep the MD informed. Respond to requests for updates in a timely manner.
Ability to produce consistent quality work. A high level of accuracy when working with numbers.
Ability to work with confidential and commercially sensitive information in a confident manner
Willingness to quickly fill any identified gaps in your hard and soft landscape knowledge
