TOOL MAKER - REPAIR PERSON

MONDAY TO FRIDAY

IMMEDIATE START - FREE PARKING

GBP11.19-GBP14.50 PER HOUR

Main job function

- To become familiar with all components produced in the press shop.

- To be familiar with materials, components, and assembly techniques

- Be familiar with setting various mechanical presses, ensure that all press tooling is correctly repaired and maintained to the required standards.

- Ensure that tooling is repaired efficiently and returned to relevant departments promptly so as to minimise down time.

- Be able to trial new or repaired tooling as required.

- Advise/Provide technical support for other production areas when required.

Main Duties

- Ensure effective tooling repairs & checkovers are maintained.
- Make sure components/assemblies comply to latest drawings.
- Maintain that all tooling is suitable for production.
- Produce new tooling for production as required.
- Troubleshoot production problems
- Assess component problems & advise corrective actions
- Ensure that toolroom consumables are maintained
- Ensure work area is kept clean & tidy

Tools/ Equipment used

- Good understanding of the use of hand tools and inspection measuring equipment, the safe use of mechanical machinery. Competent and safe use of Grinding, Milling and Turing machines plus any other associated toolroom equipment.

Working conditions / degree of effort required.

- Working within press/machine shop, potentially noisy and dirty working areas. Jobholder must be competent at setting and ensuring that safe working practices are carried out within the working area. Degree of manual lifting involved when collecting and repairing press/assembly tooling.

Qualifications / Education required

- Recognised Certificate in Mechanical Engineering and Grinding Wheel Regulations required.
- 3 - 5 years experience in a similar manufacturing environment and position.
- Good understanding of setting and assembly techniques Preferred.
- Good Computer / keyboarding Skills. Along with competent Hand Tooling/Measuring Equipment usage.
- Competent use of hand tooling & measuring equipment.
- Good eye for detail. Able to read technical drawings and specifications.
- Good communication skills
