Service Department Manager

Our prestigious client, based in Telford, manufactures, installs and services a range of commercial doors and they are currently looking to recruit a new Service Department Manager. The service department is a highly profitable area of the business, with a big changes coming in 2017. A plan of 19 external service engineers and 7 internal administrative and support staff will be under your care.

• Manage all the functions within the Service department.
• Assist in setting sales and profit budgets - P&L responsibility.
• Set, review and monitor targets for both the service and engineering teams
• Oversee the daily planning of the service engineers to cover both planned and reactive maintenance and service visits.
• Plan and set the out of hours on-call rota.
• Participate in and ensure all invoicing is up to date and accurate.
• Liaise closely and support other relevant departments
• Attend management and forecast meetings providing relevant and accurate information.
• Liaise with key customers, suppliers and sub-contractors.
• With direction and assistance of corporate HR help to manage all HR matters within the service department. Including hiring or new staff, disciplinary and other issues.
• Manage all aspects of H&S within the service department and ensure compliance
• Adhere to the ISO 9001 Quality management system and assist the Operations Manager on quality issues.

• Must have experience running an external service team preferably within the building products / electro-mechanical product sector.
• Degree or higher level qualification would be an advantage.
• Must have good people management skills and be able to positively deal with conflict.
• Must have excellent customer facing skills.
• Must be able to multi-task with highly developed organisational skills
• Must be computer literate with all Microsoft packages - experience of specific service software packages would be advantageous.
• Must have excellent communication skills - both verbal and written.
• Must be able to and prepared to work additional hours when required.
• Must have a current driving licence.
• Must allow a CRB check to be conducted.
