Operations Manager - Main Contractor - West Midlands
Our client is an ever-expanding construction main contractor with offices in the West Midlands and Central London. Due to their growth, they are looking to take on a new Operations Director to head up one of their divisions.
Operating in both the public and private realms, our clients internal divisions (Build, Interiors, Renew & Special Projects) enable them to deliver a broad spectrum of projects across multiple sectors.
" Monitor programme performance to ensure completion of projects on time.
" Monitor project progress and look to demonstrate tangible improvement in all aspects of project success factors, including notices, delays and disruption.
" Ensuring O&M manuals are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
" Manage costs and take control of delegated budgets; building a good relationship with the Commercial team. Encourage the delivery teams to optimise the profitability of the project.
" Responsible for information flow and communication to and from site.
" Responsible for delivery teams' performance, ensuring systems are adhered to and improved where appropriate.
" Attendance and contribution to CVR meetings.
" Ensure technical input is provided to the Proposals Team by relevant individuals.
" Provide timely, focussed and fitting input to tenders, PQQs and other external facing submissions when requested to do so.
" Provide construction advice to the bid team and discuss design solutions with other stakeholders.
" Resource management of production team.
Typical Performance Measures:
" Progress against target and short term programmes, method statements and programmes.
" Improvement in delivery, timely completion, zero defects, quality, profitability and customer satisfaction.
" Quality and timely returns from site, including daily diaries and regular and comprehensive weekly submissions.
" Accuracy and timeliness of reports and control documents.
" Making proposals to bring innovation, save time and money.
" Reviews provided on a timely basis.
" Projects managed by appropriate Site Managers.
" Professional and appropriate responses to submissions within agreed deadlines.
" Experience of the construction industry.
" Experience of managing projects from an overall perspective.
" Able to deal with effectively with multi-disciplinary teams.
" Experience of effectively managing a team.
" Clear understanding of project finance and strategic contract management.
" HNC or equivalent trade background.
" Member of CIOB.
