1.JOB PURPOSE

The IT Security Specialist will work as part of the Information Security team reporting to the Head of Information Security.

The role requires a strong technical background coupled with an in-depth knowledge of security systems and relevant regulations and legislation to assist in maintaining the security of information assets, processes and systems.

2.JOB CONTEXT

The IT Security Specialist must be capable of seeing the ‘big picture’ and articulating technical language in a business friendly manner.

The IT Security Specialist will have experience with a wide range of security technologies. A solid understanding of network and application security, along with experience of using various security tooling, reporting and incident management.

3.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

•Monitor security vulnerabilities, threats and events in network and host systems

•Manage security technologies such as network, intrusion detection and prevention systems, Anti-Malware and Email Gateways.

•Anticipate security alerts, incidents and disasters and reduce their likelihood

•Perform or co-ordinate penetration testing, vulnerability testing, risk analyses and security assessments

•Plan, implement and upgrade security measures and controls

•Establish plans and protocols to protect digital files and information systems against unauthorized access, modification and/or destruction

•Respond immediately to security-related incidents and provide a thorough post-event analysis

•Analyse security breaches to determine their root cause

•Train fellow employees in security awareness and procedures

•Update and upgrade security systems as needed

•Defend systems against unauthorized access, modification and/or destruction

•Provide technical advice to colleagues

4.PERSON SPECIFICATION

Skills and Experience:

•Experience of an Information Security role within a retail or similar organisation

•Knowledge of industry security regulations and regulatory practices

•A good level of knowledge in technical security protocols and mechanisms

•Experience of technical security products and solutions

•Experience of developing and championing security initiatives

•Experience of working in a project environment

•Experience of organisation information security audits

•Strong communications skills

•CISSP (Desirable)
