Garden Sundries Department Manager - Garden Centre - Horsham / Crawley / Gatwick / West Sussex

Exellent opportunity for an experienced horticulturalist with garden centre experience to manage a high profile sundries department in a highly regarded out of town destination retail business.

Our client is one of 18 Centres within the wider group of garden centres. As a group they turn over £80m annually throughout the UK and the Channel Islands, and their garden sundries departments are a key part of their customer offering.

We are looking for a motivated and passionate individual to manage the Garden Sundries Area who can drive sales and maintain high retail standards, whilst at the same time provide a level of service that exceeds customer expectations. The successful candidate will have responsibility for overseeing the day to day running of the department ensuring that the highest standards of visual appearance and maintenance are consistently applied.

You will need to ensure that customers are given the very best in service and you will provide them with expert knowledge and advice. You will play an active role in the stock ordering and stock control processes for your sections and for training and developing your team.

Candidate requirements also include to have;

  • experience of working in Garden Centres, ideally within a high volume, large format centre or retail store, although we are open to talking to candidates from any horticultural background
  • be able to recognise and act on sales opportunities
  • have excellent knowledge of gardening / plants / garden maintenance
  • be meticulous to the detail in terms of product placement, standards, presentation, visual elevation and overall look and feel
