The role of Business Development Manager is a field based role responsible for the management, relationship development and sales growth of:

  • An account set across all products with in the Exertis Portfolio
  • A specific brand across a set of accounts
  • A specific product range across a set of accounts

This is achieved through the exposure of Exertis products, services and value proposition to identified accounts, in conjunction with the internal sales account managers, and the respective Business Unit Managers.

Functional Summary of the Role

Security South Business Development Manager - Reporting into the General Sales Manager / Sales Director. This role will involve building relationships with key enterprise resellers and expanding their business with Exertis. With a clearly defined remit to on-board new resellers, as well as maintain and develop relationships with existing accounts, you will work alongside the internal account manager including Pre-Sales to ensure that the Exertis proposition is delivered to these accounts, with the specific focus on SonicWall and other complementary brands within the Enterprise Security product portfolio

Required Tasks of the Role

Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Consistent achievement of targets
  • On-boarding new resellers to Exertis
  • Maintaining & developing relationships within existing Exertis accounts, and promoting the strategic enterprise ethos
  • Ability to understand the client's business objectives and technical needs, and to engage necessary resource to support the reseller
  • Ability to work alongside internal account managers to ensure smooth running of account and delivery of SLA's
  • Assist Sales Specialists and Account Managers with presenting solutions to clients
  • Project support to ensure that the solution sold is effectively implemented Post-Sales support to assure very high customer satisfaction and business
  • Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with key contacts within enterprise vendors
  • Attending key partner events and training sessions
  • Continued training to maintain knowledge of product roadmap and latest technology changes
  • Regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment
  • Maintain professional relationships with teammates, partners and clients
  • Maintain & update pipeline to ensure all deals are logged and registered where necessary
  • Travel required within assigned territory
  • Additional duties as assigned


Education and/or Experience

  • Industry Certification preferred but not essential
  • Demonstrated experience in similar role and with a proven track record



  • Ability to effectively identify client business requirements
  • Experience and ability to engage at a senior level within key enterprise accounts
  • Ability to understand and explain the benefits of partnering with Exertis
  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints
  • Willingness to travel
  • Ability to make presentations to all levels of an organisation
  • Genuine interest in technology and software and a desire to continue to learn
  • Consistently demonstrate attention to detail
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and work independently
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team sales effort, and to successfully operate in a flexible, virtual operating environment.
  • Software skills: PowerPoint, Excel, Word,
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of and awareness to Ethics and Compliance and the Group Business Conduct Guidelines.

  • Communication Skills (including listening skills and ability to relate to a wide range of people)
  • Presentation Skills (PowerPoint, hold an audience)
  • IT Literacy (and an ability to adopt to new systems in an IT enabled organisation)
  • Ability to plan and prioritise work
  • Ability to exercise judgement/make decisions
  • Knowledge of the competition
  • Ability to interface at senior levels within the customer environment to maximise opportunities
  • Ability to develop long term business relationships leading to sustained profitable business

Ideal Requirements:

  • A proven ability to think and act strategically.

Search Engine Optimisation skills are also required as well as a thorough knowledge of marketing techniques
