The Company

Contracts Manager required for a national main contractor who specialise in both new build and refurb projects across a range of market sectors including Commercial, Retail, Food & Beverage and Pharmaceutical. With offices in both Birmingham and the East of England, they operate on a National basis and typically tender for projects within the region of £4 – 10m. Having been in operation for over 20 years, they have built positive and long lasting relationships with a number of Blue Chip clients and have an impressive repeat business rate.

As a result, they have a healthy pipeline of work secured for the next 2 years and now require an experienced Contacts Manager to oversee a wide variety of projects, from Commercial/Retail developments to Industrial Warehouses and Food Production Facilities. In brief, the role would consist of providing overall management control of construction projects and overseeing developments from inception to completion whilst ensuring all work is accomplished on time and within budget.

The Role

Based out of the company’s Birmingham office, your duties as Contracts Manager will include:

·Developing and agreeing a contract brief

·Liaising with HR to ensure all recruitment needs are met

·Managing the planning of work activities and resources to meet contract requirements

·Controlling contract costs. ensuring quality and compliance

·Managing the site managers on each site to ensure the projects are running efficiently and to agreed deadlines

·Managing health, safety, welfare and risk control systems

·Developing working relationships with stakeholders

·Agreeing client requirements and manage their expectations through confident communication

The Candidate

The ideal Contracts Manager will have the following skills and experience:

Professional Qualities

·MCIOB or equivalent

·HNC/HND Degree or Equivalent


·CSCS Card

·2+ years’ experience with a Main Contractor

Personal Qualities

·Proven experience of construction contract management

·Understanding of all aspects of the contracting process and technical building requirements

·Strong quality, environmental, health & safety compliance with the ability to develop and mentor your site based teams to ensure maximum effectiveness

·An organised approach that understands the sequential order and deadlines of a large commercial Construction project.

·High level communicator with excellent negotiation and diplomacy skills

·A strong personality to raise concerns correctly and work under pressure towards agreed deadlines

·Excellent IT skills with experience of using Microsoft Project

The Package

In return, the successful Contract Manager will receive a negotiable salary dependent upon skills and experience plus a choice of a company car or car allowance. As well as private medical insurance, life insurance and attractive pension/sick pay schemes.
