We currently have a requirement for a Housing Officer in Derby for an initial 3 month contract with potential to last 9 months and maybe term permanent.

Job purpose:
Act as the accountable officer for a defined area, drawing together local services to provide efficient, co-ordinated, customer focused services that meet local needs and deliver local standards. Work with colleagues, customers and stakeholders to co-ordinate services and maximise customer satisfaction with the organisations homes and communities. Own the relationship with organisations customers, stakeholders and communities.

Main accountabilities

Neighbourhood management

Represent the organisation at local meetings and events with customers and stakeholders, and act as the public face of the organisation in the local area

Develop and maintain local multi-agency links for benefit of customers and use these to deliver efficient, co-ordinated services to customers

Work with local communities to agree local standards, and ensure that these standards are delivered

Take the lead on managing relationships with and supporting the full range of local customer and resident groups and forums, whether formal or informal.

Deliver a robust approach to tenancy and estate management, including a clear and decisive approach to tackling fraud and subletting within the organisations policies

Take the lead on managing ASB cases in your assigned area, drawing in the support of the specialist ASB team where needed

Manage complex tenancy related issues, including succession, mutual exchange and assignment of tenancies

Take the lead on managing the local environment, working with customers, contracts and stakeholders to ensure that the environment meets service standards and customer expectations

Follow approved processes and use IT systems that meet required way of working
Customer care

Identify local priorities and needs using customer feedback, and work with colleagues, customers and stakeholders to deliver against priorities

Use your local knowledge and customer insight to inform and influence development decisions

Manage complaints effectively, using strong customer and communication skills to resolve complaints at the first stage

Develop and maintain local relationships with key local stakeholders, and respond to enquiries from MP`s, Councillors and other stakeholders relating to local issues.
Liaison and joint working

Work collaboratively with colleagues in other teams to improve service

Work cross-functionally to achieve targets and standards by joint working with other service areas

Key experience and qualifications required

Essential criteria

Well developed communication skills.

Able to build and sustain working relationships with key stakeholders (residents, local authorities, other service providers) - partnership working

A demonstrable track record of delivering service excellence to a customer base. A record of achievement in making a difference

good planning, organising and prioritisation skills

Knowledge of project management

Able to interpret financial and other systems data

Strong report writing skills. A good standard of written business English

Housing Management experience; knowledge of legislation and best practice
other criteria

Considerable independent travel is required to fully meet the responsibilities of this role. In majority of cases this will require the job holder to have a car (insured for business purposes) and a current full UK driving licence.
