Business Development Executive

22.5 hours per week (work pattern to be agreed)

£11,571 per annum (£18 k FTE), plus up to £6,000 in commission potential!

Austin Court, Birmingham

The IET are seeking an experienced Business Development Executive to actively promote and sell the IET’s prestigious Birmingham venue, Austin Court, to potential and targeted clients.

Your role will be to build relationships with clients to ensure IET Birmingham is the first choice place for meetings, AGMs, banqueting and training facilities, generating more potential and actual revenue through proactive key account management of clients within the 'MICE’ sector.

With the Austin Court venue as your main base, you will be required to get out and about to other offices or venues for client meetings. You will also have the opportunity to support at industry exhibitions and represent the Austin court as a venue of choice!

The role is part time (22.5 hrs per week) and the work pattern can be agreed with the successful candidate. Ideally you will have the flexibility to work the weekly hours as the needs of the role requires. But your own effective diary management is key in these hours working for you and The IET. Whilst you won’t normally be expected to work weekends, support at the occasional weekend event may be required.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

  • HND or equivalent in Sales and Hospitality Management
  • Extensive experience in Pro-active sales, sales negotiation & account management. Demonstrable experience in MICE
  • Worked in an Institute
  • Experience in dealing with agents, RFPs, commission
  • Well presented with excellent customer service skills and awareness
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels
  • Demonstrate building of strong business relationships
  • Proficient in the use of MS Work and Excel
  • Good spoken and written English
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends where required
  • Ability to travel

  • Degree in Event Management
