Responsibility of the Role:

  • Managing full life cycle projects including the design, development, manufacture and assembly of 'niche volume' transmissions or similarly complex components within the company's Performance Products Division.
  • The Program Manager is the main client contact and has full responsibility for delivering the operational, technical and commercial outcomes for both the business and the Customer, through effective management of all the operational resources and suppliers.
  • This position will also involve travel to suppliers, other business sites and customer sites (including international visits) for short-medium periods and on occasion with very limited notice. The position may also include the management of non-product related initiatives within the business or other similar tasks to achieve other business objectives. This role Reports to Manager, LVP Programmes

  • Good mechanical engineering knowledge
  • Good working knowledge of project management processes
  • Proven experience in Quality Frameworks
  • Proven experience of NPI processes in the automotive, aerospace or relatable industries
  • Proven record in delivering projects on time and to budget


  • Proven experience in the following:
  • Working with the sales team to achieve further sales with existing customers
  • Managing Resources outside direct supervisory control to succeed in achieving objectives
  • Understanding of and sensitivity to commercial factors
  • Ability to manage changing requirements both within the business and the customer


  • Management of projects through development phase into production
  • Working with complex mechanical systems, preferably automotive transmissions
  • Management of assembly operations
  • Working with and managing Bills of Materials
  • Management of suppliers of component parts
  • Quality control in New Product Introduction (APQP)
  • Design for Manufacture
  • Component and system functionality testing
  • Strategic Account Management


  • Educated to degree standard in a relevant engineering discipline or ability to demonstrate equivalent knowledge through experience.
  • Further Project Management (e.g. APMP or Prince2) would be beneficial.
  • Production engineering background essential in automotive, aerospace or similar industries
  • The successful candidate may come from a Precision Manufacturing environment or machine tooling or assembly background
