The purpose of this role is to work alongside the regional retail team, supporting the Regional Sales Manager and 6 Area Sales Managers in a varied HR generalist capacity. You will be hands-on with the credibility and gravitas to succeed in a fast moving commercial environment. This role will be working in and around Central London, Kent, Essex, South Suffolk, Surrey and Sussex.

The Role

Reporting to the Senior HR Practitioner, you will play a critical role in delivering the people agenda and retail plan within your specific region. You will work closely with the HR Shared service team in order to maintain consistent credible people management practices throughout your region and alignment to the retail business.

  • Coach and develop your Area Sales Managers and Store Managers within all aspects of people management to drive performance and behaviour to increase return on investment to the region.
  • Support and implement key HR projects alongside the Senior HR Team, using quantifiable data for employment relations cases and cascade information to field management teams
  • Work with your field management to devise and deliver HR workshops to up skill your Store Management teams
  • Provide tangible, credible advice to field management and colleagues within the region ensuring the dissemination of best practice and compliance with Company processes
  • Ensure live ER cases are managed within KPI’s prioritising meetings and workload, sharing appropriate analysis
  • Attend, note take and support at employee relations meetings within the region offering support and consistency across the region and retail estate to minimalise any risks to the business
  • Complete weekly activity reports, detailing all HR activity and updates on projects being undertaken, supporting and project leading where necessary on key HR initiatives.

We are recruiting for 2 roles. The geography for our regions is as follows:-

Region 5 - Essex, Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Central London.
Region 6 - Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Middlesex, Central London West.

The Person

  • Experience of working within an HR field retail team
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining excellent relationships with key stakeholders and people managers
  • Strong technical Employment Relations grounding, which may encompass experience of the following areas: disciplinary action around capability and conduct, grievances, appeals, absence and performance management
  • Good understanding of employment law and how that applies to policies and processes
  • Inquisitive mind, strong communication skills and be passionate about understanding, and providing solutions, to your regional retail team
  • Highly motivated, energetic, determined, passionate about HR and keen to make your mark within your region.
  • Inquisitive, curious, hungry to develop, able to develop quickly into a new field based role where you will offer strong, clear, pragmatic advice and guidance.
  • Commercially aware, analytical and thoughtful, you understand how HR can influence the business.
  • Assertive, able to influence, unafraid to challenge and able to do so appropriately. You’ll be honest, professional, principled, responsible, empathetic, willing to take accountability for all people matters within your region You’ll have experience of working within an HR field retail team
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining excellent relationships with key stakeholders and people managers
  • Sound knowledge, understanding and practical application of employment law and HR practices in the UK and Ireland. Preferably CIPD qualified, you will have a confident & creative approach to HR and will thrive on the challenge of providing pragmatic HR advice, guidance and coaching to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Aptitude to work autonomously is essential, alongside the resilience to deliver under pressure with pace in a changing environment.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and problem solving skills to build credible relationships with your customers.
  • Train, develop and coach others in HR best practice.
  • Highly resilient with the ability to work in a changing environment.
  • Highly attentive to detail with strong organisational and planning skills.
  • Creative and extremely literate, able to produce a high standard of written work including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint & Word along with the ability to quickly learn new operating systems
  • Ability to drive your own development through awareness of employment legislation changes and ensure up to date legal compliance in all HR activities are cascaded throughout the region
  • Based within easy commuting distance of your region, or willing to relocate. Able to travel across and work within your region for meetings as minimum of 4 days per week.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel and some overnight stays as required
