The purpose of the role is to drive company sales and protect margins, by optimising the current product offering, while also stimulating revenue growth by identifying and implementing new products for sale online, from initially researching the product through to publishing and achieving target sales revenue.

Working closely with the Directors to establish supplier relationships and identify commercially viable product opportunities; and the Head of E-commerce for marketing, you will lead in the delivery of the end to end execution of the product journey.

As the business grows, so too does the demand to ensure they provide the very best online customer experience. An exciting opportunity has arisen as they continue to expand and develop, for a Product and Category Manager.

Working closely with the Directors to establish supplier relationships and identify commercially viable product opportunities; and the Head of E-commerce for marketing, you will lead in the delivery of the end to end execution of the product journey.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop the product management and publishing team to better identify and execute sales opportunities. Manage an internal team of 3 staff and a team of 6 sub-contractors to ensure our websites have the best possible selection of products, published accurately and priced correctly.
  • Exploit the range of existing products, identifying selling opportunities on a product, brand and category basis, expanding the offering from existing suppliers.
  • Analyse sales performance, identify underperforming ranges and devise strategies to rectify this.
  • Research new products to drive online range development, confirming demand using tools including keyword analysis and competitor analysis, and identifying products to sell within margin targets and with growth potential.
  • Plan and forecast sales of products, brands and categories and monitor sales to ensure delivery against forecasts. Launch new products and work with the marketing team to ensure target revenues are achieved.
  • Understand our customer base, competitive market and seasonal trends to gauge which products will be successful.
  • Present product, brand and category management updates to key stakeholders within the business.

The successful candidate for the role will be a commercially minded and highly organised individual who can maximise the business opportunity for the company.

  • Three years' work experience within a similar ecommerce role, building and implementing multi brand product offerings with a proven track record of delivering online sales growth.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of the brand management and the product lifecycle
  • Experience working with online content management, publishing and merchandising
  • Work to agreed targets and timescales
  • Nurture the best out of the existing team through empowerment, identifying employee development opportunities and increasing capability in house.
  • A confident approach to managing a team including objective setting, appraisals, training, etc.
