A leading national house builder are looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to work from their office in Coventry,West Midlands

The role:

Reporting to the Commercial Manager with management responsibility for the financial performance of house building projects. The region produces 180 units annually and looking to grow to 300 in 2018.

Working in a team of 1 Senior Qs,2 Quantity Surveyors,1 Buyer and an Estimator. This is a busy and established team with a good team and work ethic.

Overall responsibilities of the role:
Project cost control - site budgets, value engineering, monitoring actual costs, monthly valuations, progress and stock on site.

Implement wherever possible value engineering solutions & strategy to optimise profit and efficiency for the business.

Attend project Team meetings, sharing site budgets, cost variances.

Sub-contractor enquiries, analysis and orders, including Roads, sewers & Groundworks.

Labour only estimates. Sub-contractor valuations - progress, site measurements, variations, retentions, contra charges and final accounts.

Customer variations - site specific pricing, one off quotations, sub-contractor orders and monitoring costs.

Report on weekly sales completions.

Be aware of all codes of practice that impact on cost e.g. Building Regulations, NHBC requirements, HSE etc.

A privately owned national house builder. They operate through 20 regional divisions that build bungalows, flats, and houses throughout the UK. They are one of the Uk`s largest home builders and sell about 5,000 homes annually at an average price of about £176,000. With a land bank of 18,000 plots with planning permission.

The Person:
It is likely you will have previously worked as either a Quantity Surveyor, Assistant Quantity Surveyor,Trainee Quantity Surveyor,QS or Commercial Manager in a similar house building environment. Experience in housing is essential.

Helpful to have the following:
Degree in Quantity Surveying is preferred
COINS software helpful
Excellent organiser with proven time management skills
Excellent communication skills
