PK education is recruiting Level 3 Graduate Teaching Assistants to work within Special Needs Schools located within the Birmingham area. Teaching Assistants are extremely respected and key to the overall learning and development of pupils. The positions would suit individuals who are seeking a challenging, professional, enjoyable, and rewarding experience.

We are recruiting for both Male and Female Teaching assistants. Some of our SEN Schools have students with disabilities of a nature that would involve assisting with personal care.

Are you a university graduate or due to graduate this year and are looking to pursue a career as a Teacher but need to gain school based experience before starting a PGCE or other initial teacher training? PK Education are working with several SEN Schools in Birmingham who are looking to appoint graduates Teaching Assistant positions allowing you to then start your teacher training. This is an ideal opportunity for those looking to gain school based experience before starting Teacher training.

PK Education are working with several clients across Birmingham to identify high calibre graduates with degrees and SEN experience. These positions are an ideal opportunity for graduates looking to gain school based experience to get exposure within a school setting in a paid capacity, supporting your applications to start PGCE or initial teacher training course. The positions on offer are those of Teaching Assistants, meaning the successful applicant will work with pupils across different key stages and support various types of SEN such as Autism, PMLD, SLD and MLD.

The ideal candidate should have the following:

  • Level 3 qualification: Supporting Learning in Schools (or equivalent course).

  • Or level 6 qualification: Childhood Studies degree (or equivalent course).

  • Experience working with SEN students.

  • Flexible and available for full time work.

  • Current, valid DBS (update service).

  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of safeguarding policies.

    The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate the following skills:

  • The ability to adapt quickly to a variety of situations.

  • Caring attitude and a passion to contribute the learning and development of pupils.

  • Be a confident person with a warm and friendly approach.

  • Able to apply behaviour policies effectively.
