A Project Manager is required to join a global automotive components manufacturer. As a Project Manager, your main responsibility will be to support new product/engineering change requests which will include identifying new and innovative productive solutions for new product lines.

Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, your main duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Managing product design, process design and development, including feasibility

  • Provide quotation support for pressing/assembly processes to include concepts, layouts and cycle times as required

  • Provide accurate cost and timing feedback for products and changes during the enquiry and programme phase

  • Prepare and maintain detail project timing plans across all projects

  • Ensure time plans are made available from all supply routes and support functions

  • Preparation of pressing/assembly and special purpose equipment SOR’s

  • Support the nomination and kick-off process for pressing/assembly and special purpose equipment

  • Charting plant based weekly review meetings

  • Lead and coordinate internal process run at rate and process buy off

  • Support the follow up of pressing/assembly/special purpose/tooling equipment suppliers as required and ensure adherence to agreed planning

  • Coordinate the preparation of DFMEA/PFMEA and process planning documentation via plant project, project quality and new tool engineering

  • Chairing DFMEA/PFMEA meeting with support functions

  • Escalating risks/issues to programme management in a timely manner

  • Report project status to programme management in accordance with scheduled project and programme reviews and reporting formats

  • Follow and maintain project processes and documentation

  • Attend customer PMST meetings using prescribed action/timing log

  • Support project to 90 days post SOP

To be successful in the role of Project Manager, you will need to possess the following skills/knowledge/experience:

  • 5 years’ experience in a similar role within an automotive high volume environment

  • Problem solving skills

  • Planning and organisational skills

  • Risk analysis skills

  • Technical presentation and communication skills

  • Good computer skills specifically Microsoft Office and potentially SAP and PDM applications

  • Knowledge of project financial requirements and constraints and be able to demonstrate the ability to manage and control those budgets within agreed target levels

  • Previous experience working with OEM’s such as JLR, Nissan, Toyota & BMW would be advantageous

  • Enthusiastic, driven and motivated

  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication, both verbal and in written form

You will be required to work away from home on occasions within the UK and across Europe. This position is permanent and full time; however a flexible approach to working hours is essential due to the nature of the role. You will receive a competitive salary plus company benefits.

This position is based in Cannock and is easily commutable from Stafford, Lichfield, Walsall, Tamworth, Sutton Coldfield, Wolverhampton, Telford, Burton upon Trent and Birmingham.
