My client is a well-established distribution, haulage and transport company based in Worcestershire, providing a wide range of logistic services nationally and internationally. They are a successful thriving company with a healthy turnover of around £10 million.

Due to their continual success, my client is seeking a highly experienced HGV Fitter to work within their dynamic team and to develop within their successful growing business. You will be expected to achieve high productivity and quality within time repair constraints, whilst adhering to Company policies and procedures. As the mechanic, you will be expected to provide a safe working environment and the delivery of a well maintained internal vehicle fleet.

Excellent career progression based on performance also.

Role

- Reporting directly to the Workshop Manager - Responsible for all routine maintenance, repairs, MOT and services on a mixed fleet of around 75 vehicles; LGV's, HGV's (rigid's and articulated vehicles) and vans
- Completing repairs, overhauls of engines, engine accessories, power transmission systems and other systems on the vehicles, installs, replacing fuel, ignition, electrical and cooling systems; universal joints and hydraulic units, steering mechanisms and other controls; wheel alignments and emission control systems
- Ensuring all service and inspection documentation is completed correctly
- Performing a variety of skilled mechanical and other tasks on the Company vehicles and perform other related tasks as required ensuring these are conducted in a safe and responsible manner according to Health & Safety Legislation and VOSA Regulations
- Planning and executing vehicle inspection, service, repairs and accountability for results
- Management of individual workload and job assignments
- Ensuring Health and Safety regulations are adhered to at all times
- Using the workshop equipment in a correct and safe manner
- Contributing towards effective preventative maintenance
- Communicating accurately with Foreman / Manager as to Work in Progress and any anticipated delays or issues

Requirements

- Full driving licence
- HGV licence - Class 1 / Class 2 is a huge advantage
- Ability to maintain excellent productivity, quality and efficiency
- Excellent knowledge of mechanics & electrics
- Good understanding of vehicle maintenance
- Appropriate technical qualifications
- Have an excellent understanding of vehicle maintenance requirements and procedures
- Knowledge of Transportation and Logistics industry
