Site Supervisor Rail
Our international client is a market leader operating within the railway and mining industries.
Our client develops, designs and builds advanced measurement and control equipment, mostly for passenger and heavy freight railways.
We seek an Site Supervisor (Rail) to join their expanding UK team.
You will be an experienced engineer with a proven track record of leading installations of complex engineering projects encompassing mechanical, electronic & electrical aspects. You must also have experience of working on railways/rail maintenance depot environments in order to be fully familiar and conversant with Rail safety regulations.
Support the management of selected Projects by taking responsibility for the delivery of key activities. Provide technical leadership and support during integration, installation and commissioning activities on site and at company HQ. Provide method statements and risk assessments associated with site work in railways and depots and client installation sites.
Ensure all required safety procedures on depots and sites and complies with railway safety related standards.
Site Supervisor (Rail) Key Responsibilities:
*Delivery of the installation phase of projects to time and budget.
*Maintain ISO 9001-compliant & appropriate quality management to deliver the highest practicable quality products and services.
*Ensure compliance with railway industry and client's safety standards and procedures, associated with site work.
*Represent with integrity & value at customer's sites. Ensure a good working relationship with all customers on site.
*Management of project resources to ensure all activities are suitably resourced with all staff well briefed on their responsibilities.
*Ensure all required health and safety procedures, risk assessments and any additional documentation is in place and briefed accordingly
*Maintain the project programme and update management on progress and achievement of milestones
*Ensure all installations are well planned, all documentation is in place, the site is ready for our installation, shipping of the product components, containers etc.. is planned and the customer is aware of their responsibilities.
Duties and Tasks:
*Plan and manage resources required to carry out projects and deliverer to specification and on time
*Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers.
*Lead project meetings (where required)
*Assist in the preparation and review of project, design, test, production and commercial documentation
*Carry out risk assessments and prepare and get approval for method statements associated with site operations.
*Approve procedural requirements
Skills & Abilities
*Capable of listening and assimilating information from others, identifying various potential outcomes and consequences, presenting persuasive arguments and winning concessions while maintaining relationships.
*Proven ability to use clear, concise language in correspondence as well as including content fitting for the purpose and audience when preparing written briefs and reports.
*Possess the ability to plan and organise self and others to ensure the completion of tasks and to manage and support others to succeed in their roles.
*Ability to structure, engage and present information clearly and interestingly to various audiences.
*Ability to work in complex frameworks, analyse and prioritise elevated levels of information and convert ideas and objectives into actions
*Ability to appropriately prioritize problems, gather and analyse the right information to identify symptoms and causes and identify the right people to involve reaching better conclusions.
*Demonstrate ability with regard to computer skills, including excellent word processing capabilities, proficiency with e-mail and internet applications and data base applications and experience using programs such as (for example: MS Word, Access and Excel)
*Demonstrate ability to maintain and enhance relationships with customers, contractors and staff in order to achieve work goals.
*Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills to effectively translate ideas, concepts and information.
Qualifications and Experience
*An Engineering degree (Mechanical/Electronic/Electrical) or HNC/HND from a UK University/College, or qualification of equivalent standard from a UK or overseas university/college
*Qualifications must confer eligibility for membership to a UK Engineering professional body such as the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET).
Experience & Knowledge
*Thorough knowledge of system and infrastructure engineering disciplines.
*Significant experience working in complex engineering projects including phases of projects of design, approvals, procurement, contract administration, reporting and closure.
*Experience in detailed design, implementation and testing of systems
*Understanding of client's Programme & Project Delivery Processes.
*Experience in the management of projects and staff to meet critical deadlines.
*Possess knowledge of and experience in the use of computers in technical applications.
*Category B Driver's License in accordance with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA).
