The post is a full time post of 37 hours per week for 43 weeks per year.

Salary point 24, £21,426 per annum progressing up to point 27.

Our client is seeking to appoint a full-time Student Support Officer to work alongside the PSHE Lead to deliver an inclusive sex and relationship education programme.

This post will also provide additional 1:1 and group support to an identified caseload of students with complex social, emotional and behavioural needs. The post holder will work closely with the Psychologists, Student Support Manager and PSHE Lead as well as the wider team to develop Individual Support Strategies for students. Key to this role is working with staff to ensure strategies are implemented consistently, reviewed regularly and updated as required.

They are looking to recruit someone who is calm, flexible and proactive and who can build strong relationships with students and staff teams. Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support and Person Centred approaches would be an advantage but training will be provided for the successful applicant.

The ideal candidate will have experience of delivering a PSHE curriculum, be a confident and competent facilitator, with strong communication skills, who is able to adapt their style of communication in a range of context and student needs.

Our client is a national residential College for the assessment, rehabilitation, vocational education and training of students with visual impairment and other disabilities. Its primary aim is to develop the skills of all students to the full, enabling them to live and work as independently as possible in society.

Students at the college are aged from 16-25. Students have a wide range of abilities and disabilities including Visual Impairment, Autistic Spectrum Disorders and Learning Disabilities. Many have more than one disability. Their learner population is recruited nationally and reflects the multi-cultural nature of their society.
