Job Title: Forensics Submissions Officer

We are working with a large public-sector organisation and have an exciting opportunity to join their Forensics team working on a 12-month temporary contract to cover maternity leave. Joining our client as a Forensic Submissions Officer, you will be responsible for processing digital forensics information and handling all other associated forensics administration.

Job Description:

- Commissioning forensic analysis in straightforward simple cases, including but not limited to drugs and mobile phones
- Coordinating the movement of exhibits within the organisation, to and from in-house Forensic Expert Services and external Forensic Service Providers
- Recording and updating work management systems and databases with data and results regarding statements, results, delivery notes and invoices
- Forwarding results of forensic investigations through to investigating officers
- Updating work management system with cases, tests, estimates, products and pricing
- Supporting and contributing to the Forensics Department Quality Standards strategy
- Writing and maintaining SOPs for Forensic Submissions functions and contributing towards UKAS visits and the audit schedule as and when requested
- Monitoring data held by completing weekly and monthly data cleansing tasks
- Providing budget monitoring reports
- Providing general advice regarding forensic submissions to Local Policing Teams, Force Investigative Services, Criminal Justice Services and Forensics Department colleagues including:
- Preservation and packaging of different evidence types
- Timescales for examination of different evidential types including urgent submissions
- Preparation of submissions paperwork for authorisation and exhibits for dispatch
- Likely costs, case status and outcomes of examinations
- Assisting with the process of collecting and preparing exhibits for further transfer and subsequent analysis
- Preparing continuity statements for court when requested

Candidate Requirements:

- It is essential that you have a background within forensic science - this could either be from education or employment history
- Strong administration skills
- Ability to prepare accurate and clear reports
- Strong communication skills along with the ability to communicate with both internal and external stakeholders
- You will have strong IT skills - Microsoft Office systems along with the ability to learn bespoke IT packages easily
- Ability to work to deadlines and plan your workload accordingly
- Driving license and own transport essential - there will be a requirement to travel to other sites from time to time
- You will be able to pass security clearance

Hours: Monday to Friday between 8.00am - 4.30pm, 37 hours per week (Flexi time available)

Salary: 10.50ph
