The Company:
Our client specialises in the design, manufacture, assembly, test, installation and commissioning of bespoke solutions for the nuclear industry.

Role Purpose:

Accountable to the Engineering Manager for the Technical Discipline quality, integrity, capability, competency and performance of his/her Discipline Unit.

Accountable to the Engineering Manager for the Technical Contents of all deliverables within the scope of his/her Discipline Unit.

Accountable for the management of the discipline delivery team unit.

Key Activities / Decision Areas

- Commissioning authority and signatory
- Commissioning authority and signatory for estimates, tenders and bids
- To be accountable and responsible for the delivery test and commissioning work packages in support of design substantiation.
- Company expert and point of contact for multiple projects across the business, advising on all aspects of commissioning throughout the product lifecycle.
- To ensure the performance of commissioning activities related to the Unit technical discipline(s) in accordance with the best engineering practice
- Responsible for unit resources, management, development and training.
- To ensure compliance with all relevant legislative, regulatory and contractual requirements.
- Responsible for the quality of Commissioning engineering output, adherence to standards and legislation
- To ensure the final quality of the set of deliverables in accordance with the efficiency objectives established for each project, the business area and company
- To provide guidance of procedures and standards which are the most appropriate for the development of the design
- Responsible for the checking and approval of the scope readiness for process stages
- Responsible for the acceptance, approval and execution of the test and commissioning strategy satisfying functional and safety functional requirements and chairing compliance reviews.
- To escalate issues and seek advice from the Engineering Manager when encountering complex problems
- To support the Project Engineer in technical discussion with Clients
- To identify the possible need for the acquisition of new knowledge/updates and of technical Know-How development for his/her unit
- To be capable of properly identifying Client's requirements, scope of works and costs relevant to his/her disciplines both for bids and contract execution
- Responsible for all schedules of delivery within his/her unit's tasks / assignments
- Able to lead continuous improvement initiatives on a day-by-day basis relevant to the technical discipline(s) of the Unit
- To apply the company procedures for Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety Systems and Organizational Models
- Maintaining safety, discipline and control of allocated staff and contractors, ensuring adherence to safe systems of work and HR Guidelines.

Essential role related knowledge, technical skills, qualifications and experience:

- Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Degree Qualified (or Equivalent) - typically with post-graduate qualification (MSc, MEng, PhD).
- Test and Commissioning capability
- Minimum of 10 years continuous and technical relevant experience of which 5 as technical authority / signatory
- Must be a UK Passport holder
- This role will require SC clearance to be obtained.
- Member of IMechE/IET (Chartered Engineer status preferred)
- Nuclear Industry Experience preferred
- Management and control of Engineering delivery Commissioning teams

- Nuclear Decommissioning / New Build / Plant Life Extension
- Remote Handling Equipment
- Lifting Equipment / cranes
- Bespoke Heavy Engineering Plant
- Harsh environment remote equipment
- Machine Control systems, instrumentation and process applications
- Plant wide automation
- Complex safety related high integrity plant and equipment and system automation

Person Specification

- Excellent people management skills
- Comprehensive engineering technical knowledge
- Conscientious approach to Engineering Design, supported with relevant design analysis background
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Always strives to provide fit for purpose solutions
- Able motivate and co-ordinate a delivery team of Designers
- Keen to ensure the requirements of other Engineering and manufacturing functions are incorporated into the design
- Maintains an understanding of the latest Engineering Technologies and innovations
- Knowledge of the company's provisions indicated in the Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety Management System
