My client is a very well established building services organisation based in Birmingham who has an urgent requirement for a Mechanical Quantity Surveyor.

Your role will involve overseeing the costs, contracts, and commercial aspects of construction projects, and depending upon your level of experience, you will be involved in reporting, reviewing contracts, assessing and pricing changes, procurement of packages, cost planning, cash flow forecasting, overseeing subcontract accounts, payments, cost reviews, final accounts.


*Interim applications - To ensure a timely submission, compilation, agreement with the on site team as well as a client's representative to concur with agreement of measure/submission. This is a joint role with the QS working with the project engineer.
*Variations - Assist in compilation with the contracts engineer, production submission and agreement with the client's representative/site team as well as regular and cumulative updating of the project cost plan, production of budgets and subsequent confirmation of the budget within 28 days.
*Project support - To be site based as and when required in support of the first two items detailed, whenever required by instruction/agreement of the Directors.
*Attend monthly project reviews with the Contracts Manager and produce surveying reports against each live project.
*Assist (when required) the Project Manager with assessment, selection of and cost options regarding sub-contractor proposal prior to submission for selection to the Directors/Contracts Manager.
*Review client interim certificates once issued to ensure it reflects JSW submitted application. Shortfalls to be discussed and resolved with the client/clients QS
*Attendance at monthly meetings with the clients on site surveying team to agree variations/cost plan/applications.
*Support and contribute with regard to agreement of and submission of project final account values.
*Assist in production of projected cash flow charts, project WIP sheets and monthly summary project costs.
*Review the contract once received with the order and agree its final content.
*Adhere to Company Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies, procedures, systems and processes

Although the role will be primarily office based, you will be required to visit construction sites and other offices, depending upon the project requirements.
The ideal candidate will have experience of M&E however Quantity Surveyors with Construction/Contractor experience are also of interest.
