We are currently recruiting at our Market Drayton site in the Quality Department for a Hygiene Co-ordinator to support the Hygiene Manager in the maintenance and development of hygiene systems and external certifications across the site, acting as a specialist and subject matter expert to monitor compliance and drive improvements.

Your challenge

In this role the key responsibilities will include:

* Provide support to the Operations Managers by ensuring cleaning schedules are available, appropriately maintained and updated

* Develop and maintain all cleaning procedures, ensuring systems are in place for the effective cleaning of all lines, areas and facilities across the site

* Review all cleaning procedures and associated documentation on an annual basis in addition to making adhoc updates to reflect changes to agreed practices

* Understand the food safety requirements of all our products, in particular the day to day management of allergen cleaning controls, product to product restrictions, CIP standards and chemical contamination risks, building relevant information into the site standard

* Develop WGLL systems and documentation for the site as part of the ongoing site improvement plan

* Maintain the site's cleaning validation and verification systems, documenting the results of all inspections and provide reports and trending information as appropriate to monitor compliance against site standards

* Work closely with Ops/Planning to ensure cleaning needs are accommodated

* Ensure that the highest quality and food safety standards are embedded throughout the factory and that standards of hygiene and good housekeeping are appropriate to a quality Food Manufacturer

* Report any deficiencies, damage or problems identified during inspections immediately, including faulty or damaged equipment

* In conjunction with the Quality Managers and departmental managers in Operations, make recommendations for improving GMP and Hygiene standards across the site

* Play an active role in all site Quality and Hygiene audits to satisfy customer expectations for quality of hygiene standards

* Participate in the successful delivery of visits and audits from BRC, retailers and other 3rd parties

* Be an active member of the sites Internal Auditing team, raising any areas of non-compliance with the relevant departments and ensuring issues are resolved and closed out accordingly

* Support the site's H&S initiatives through adherence to H&S ways of working, participation in H&S audits, training and reporting of incidents

Key skills & experience

Excellent communication skills

Attention to detail and a tenacious approach to resolving issues and implementing corrective actions Planning and organisational skills
Working knowledge of HACCP
Previous experience of food safety standards (e.g. BRC), food legislation, risk assessment, COSHH, IOSH and HACCP
Knowledge and understanding of retailer standards
Relevant food manufacturing experience in a similar role
Managing site standards without a direct hygiene team
Balancing day to day reactive and longer term proactive working
Ability to work on own initiative
Self motivation and commitment
Results/targets driven to ensure deadlines are met
Flexible, resilient, persistent, pragmatic and methodical
