Service Engineer - Electron Microscopes (CC615-TJ)

Location: North West, Yorkshire, Midlands, South East, South West - Home based with up to 85% travel (International & Domestic)

£35K - £45K Basic + Company Bonus + Company Car + Pension + Healthcare + Life Assurance + Childcare Vouchers + Medical Insurance + 25 Days + Public Holidays + Benefits

My client is one of the largest multi-disciplinary manufactures in the world today. This conglomerate group of companies create innovative solutions for a diverse range of industries.

They are currently going through an exciting transformation period and are positioning themselves to attack the UK market more effectively.

With significant investment in staff development and new facilities, they are on track to dominate and spearhead the UK market.


The role will report directly to the Service Manager and be responsible for providing hands on expertise and post-sales technical support across my clients’ high performance instrumentation range.

This position will require the successful candidate to travel extensively throughout the UK and Europe.

Other duties will include:-

  • Providing effective on site customer support including system installation and commissioning.
  • Providing site based and remote maintenance (preventative and reactive), fault finding, calibration and diagnostic support.
  • Providing basic customer training on my client’s systems and their correct use.
  • Developing a high level of technical expertise within electron microscopes.
  • Submitting accurate and timely service reports.

The ideal candidate will be based within a commutable distance of an international airport and possess a competent understanding of Nano surface measurement solutions gained through industry or education.

All candidates must hold a valid UK/EU driving license and be educated to a minimum of degree level within Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science or an affiliated discipline. Other qualifications that would be considered, include a degree within Electronic, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.

Along with being technically competent it is essential all candidates possess the interpersonal and communication skills needed to build lasting relationships through inspiring trust and confidence with customers.

Other key requirements;

  • Ability to take responsibility of the complete installation and commissioning of high specification instrumentation and train users on its basic operation and applications.
  • A logical and methodical approach to fault finding including the use of diagnostic tools such as Oscilloscopes and 3D Optical microscopes.
  • IT Literate.
  • A presentable individual who takes pride in their personal appearance.
