The Video Producer role has been created to satisfy business needs for dynamic and engaging video content. The scope of the role includes producing high quality video content for Halfords customers across a range of customer touch points including customer-facing websites, social media channels and YouTube. It also includes producing engaging content for internal purposes, such as colleague engagement, events and conferences.
This role will ensure the delivery of great video content meeting the internal clients brief and needs of the business in a current and engaging way, often working with creative agencies to bring the Halfords brand to life, and maximize impact.
1. Create and maintain strong relationships with key internal customers
•Working with the Video Production Coordinator (VPC) establish and maintain strong collaborative relationships with the key people within the digital, marketing, category, retail and people teams who use the video team to create content.
•Working with the VPC & alone make the best of opportunities to showcase and promote your work to your customers and the wider business.
2. Planning & process
•Listen closely to internal customers to understand their needs for video content in the context of their wider business challenges.
•With an aim to drive engagement & conversion, form creative conceptions in response to internal customers' briefs in a way that you believe will wow both your internal customer & the end viewer.
•Track your progress visibly on our workload management system to ensure efficient delivery of video production work - for example, throughout the milestones of briefing, shooting and approving the work.
•Working with the Video Team, resource, plan and carry out shoots to meet the needs of your internal customers, working to defined deadlines and budgets set out by your VPC or Internal client.
This will include but isn't limited to:
-Finding locations / Carrying out recce's
-Attaining filming permits / booking locations
-Sourcing appropriate props
-Actor search & casting
-Creating call sheets
-Storyboarding & creating shot lists
-Excellent Filming & Sound recording based upon the brief & script provided
-Booking transport & accommodation for staff & actors
-Assisting with lifestyle photography set-up when required
-Equipment prep / pack / maintenance
-Equipment rental where appropriate
-Logging footage efficiently to speed up the edit process
-Editing footage into engaging video content
-Seeking approval for completed work
3. Standards & creativity
•Be sensitive to the context in which video is used so that value can be maximized from the content across the full range of customer and colleague touch points. Always being aware of the various needs for particular styles of video. For example Social media videos will need to have a different approach to products video's on the website.
•Be proactive in collaborating with external creative agencies, blending the best of external input with the best of what you and the rest of the video team can deliver.
4. Follow up and continual improvement
•Working with your VPC Collect feedback from your customers on a regular basis and use this to progress and improve your ways of working, capability and output.
•Proactive approach to filming, enthusiasm to capture the products being filmed in the most exciting and engaging way
•Practical experience of video production & a basic knowledge of digital photography
•A solid knowledge of filming techniques & hardware used to achieve the correct results in varying scenarios.
•Well organised and disciplined in order to prioritise multiple streams of work and deliver results to fixed deadlines.
•Solid knowledge of Video editing software. Adobe Creative Suite/Creative Cloud as well as digital content platforms such as social media channels & YouTube
•Proven professional experience in filming & editing.
