The principal function of this position is to provide support for our growing client base through a range of services. The job holder will perform a wide range of tasks including lighting calculations, value management reporting, total cost of ownership analysis and light pollution assessments The continued strong workload of our highways team in Worcester reflects our success in delivering a range of services across the spectrum of highways and transportation services in the UK. Projects range from scheme development, preliminary and detailed design and construction in partnership with a range of private and public sector clients including West Midlands Highway Alliance, Highways England, AOne Plus (MAC), local authorities and major contractors. Our recent major project successes mean that we are looking to actively recruit to strengthen and grow our team. The Worcester office is key to expanding this highways business in the UK and Europe, and this position is an important factor in that success. Job Responsibilities / Accountabilities: * The key responsibilities of this role include providing technical and lighting design support for our growing client base through a wide variety of deliverables which include: * Lighting calculation * Value management reporting * Asset analysis * Total cost of ownership * Procurement support * Flexibility of working hours and some travelling within the UK will be expected We want to hear from client centric individuals, particularly those people with a background in exterior lighting design, major Highways schemes or local authority schemes and want to develop their careers as being part of a proven team. The minimum qualifications for this position are: The essential requirements of this role include: * Institution of Lighting Professional Diploma in lighting * Registered as AMILP with the Institution of Lighting Professionals * Experience of designing to British lighting and electrical standards (BS5489, BSEN 13201 and BS7671) * A comprehensive understanding of the DMRB and MCHW. * An understanding of health and safety issues in relation to the design and construction of civil engineering works. * Fully conversant in all Microsoft Office software particularly MS Excel and Word. * Proficient in key design software particularly AutoCAD, Lighting Reality and electrical cable sizing software AMTECH. * Proven track record of delivering projects within set timeframes. The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience: * A wide knowledge of LED luminaires and CMS systems * An electrical engineering or relevant civil engineering degree * A CPD record covering the previous two years * Experience in 3D lighting calculations software such as AGI32 Engineering Technician or higher status of an appropriate institution will be preferred * Appropriate BS 7671 (Wiring Regulations 17th Edition) awareness qualification * G39 certificate held * Experience of onsite inspections of highway lighting or highway electrical installations * An understanding of the environmental impact of lighting and light pollution * Full UK driving license Our Culture: Safety & health conscious, flexible working conditions, collaborative & friendly with regular social activities.
