Our Birmingham team have exciting opportunities across our portfolio including: High Speed 2, Programme Delivery Partner for Highways England, SMART/Major Motorways, Network Rail, Local Authority frameworks, Flood/Environmental frameworks and Major Ground Investigations. The role will be to identify the priorities for the other disciplines and ensure the required detail or assumptions are agreed in good time for the programme development of that discipline. Key Responsibilities: • Management and control of railway systems interfaces to civils / rolling stock / stations / operations and maintenance strategy from the Area Civils teams as to their priorities for design development • Work with design consultants either directly or indirectly contracted by HS2 and discipline heads to develop sufficient design information to define these interfaces between packages • Ensure assumptions are raised to ensure the interface decisions are recorded and controlled • Manage change control of design interfaces • Moving the assumptions into requirements as this becomes possible • Ensuring information is shared with and understood by the Area Civils teams, Station teams or Rolling Stock team as well as Operations Directorate • Develop Interface Control Documents • Interface Design Reviews and Design Checks • Continued development of reference designs to allow Area Civils designs to progress into construction • Provision of interface information for railway systems procurement • Ensure reference documentation is available within the Requirement Management system • Support design and assurance assessments and other deliverables being brought before appropriate internal HS2 panels for agreement and approval in a timely manner to maintain programme • Providing expert support for engineering and construction assurance to ensure compliance with the Construction Design and Management (CDM), Interoperability Regulations and the Common Safety Method for Risk Assessment (CSM-RA) Regulation with respect to rail systems engineering • Actively promote and embed Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work. The minimum qualifications for this position are: • Chartered Engineer status and membership of an appropriate professional institution • Knowledge of the Construction Design & Management Regulation (2015) and other Health and Safety legislation • Detailed knowledge of the rail systems interfaces to civil infrastructure, operations and maintenance, stations and rolling stock • Detailed knowledge of the rail systems interfaces to Network Rail and London Underground • Experience of providing technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Supporting the development of innovative solutions that are systematic, practical, and consistent with organisation objectives • Experience of determining and developing approaches to the required solutions, working on own authority to adequately meet the objectives • Experience of contributing to the completion of delivery projects • Experience of liaising with inter-organisational personnel, stakeholders and external customers.
