This post requires a graduate who has a good understanding of how to work with children based on experience gained from a similar role, and who has received a 2:1 or higher in their degree. You will have the skills to develop relationships with all you work with and demonstrate an honest passion for the institution. As a Graduate Primary Teaching Assistant your role will involve you moving throughout the school to match demand and you will be supported by a warm and approachable SLT. Your duties will include following the advice of your mentor, an experienced Senior Teacher who has a personable manner and understands who to positively critique the work of budding teachers. This Graduate Primary Teaching Assistant position involves building towards your future PGCE course through your hard-work, passion and genuine interest in teaching. In general, you will be easing into the role of a teacher through taking charge of some small groups of students and providing 1:1 tutoring for others. Though your day will be busy, you will have specific hours for your own development including observing lessons, learning teaching skills, and feedback sessions with senior teachers. Day-to-day, you will be working closely with a dedicated Senior Leadership Team who favours an open, direct approach to leadership and is known for recognising the qualities that will one day make a Teaching or Learning Support Assistant an Outstanding practitioner. In this post you will be equipping SEN pupils with the academic and personal skills required to confidently embark on the next stage of education.
