Our client is looking to recruit a suitably experienced and successful Business Development Manager to be the driving force for improving their market position and achieving financial growth targets. Reporting to the Managing Director, the successful candidate will engage with potential and existing customers, suppliers, contractors and partner consultants to grow our client's surveying, architectural design, project management and building surveying services across their sectors of operation.

This is a permanent, full time position, based out of their Staffordshire premises, with extensive travel throughout the UK. Applications are particularly encouraged from those with a strong track record in delivering significant growth in similar professional practices.

Duties of the Business Development Manager

New Client Business Development:

- Identifying and prospecting potential new clients across sectors of the business, including commissioning clients, partnering professional organisations and contractors
- Growing, maintaining, and leveraging our shared networks
- Relationship building to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities
- Meet potential clients to establish and build relationships
- Set up meetings between client decision makers and our senior team
- Liaison with marketing and sales teams, plan approaches, proposals and pitches
- Participate in pricing and quotations, including assisting the preparation of PQQs
- Attending functions, events, conferences and analyse market trends

Client Retention:

- Carrying out regular meetings with existing clients, partners, suppliers and contractors
- Monitor and measure client satisfaction, client debriefs and post project feedback
- Work with departmental heads to help develop and refine new and existing product to assist the client needs

Business Development Management, Planning and Research:

- Manage and maintain company CRM system, including tracking activities
- Working with senior management to maintain order book and sales forecasting
- Training and developing our people in prospecting and sales techniques
- Understanding and contributing to company vision and purpose

Requirements of the Business Development Manager

- Extensive business development experience in a quickly growing small business
- Track record of delivering significant growth in a similar sized Architectural, Surveying or other Professional Services practice
- Educated to degree level in Business Studies or similar (Desirable)
- Use of CRM systems
- Networking and prospecting
- Identifying customer needs
- Excellent communication skills
- Preparation of management reports
- Attending events and exhibitions
- Experienced with the set up and management of CRM systems
- Ability to work on own initiative, prioritise, yet work well in a team environment
