We have been instructed to recruit for a dynamic and market leading Medical Device company who have a range of products within the Stoma Care market. If you are looking to work in an innovative and tenacious environment as a Community Stoma Care Nurse, then this position may be for you. The role will be based in the Midlands, covering Tamworth, Lichfield and Burntwood. The main purpose of the role will be to deliver high quality, evidence based care to all patients who require surgery, and who have or may require the formation of a stoma - both within the hospital and the community setting. You will also provide expert advice and education for all staff within the hospital and community. You are responsible for reviewing, auditing and improving the quality of care delivered.

Essential Requirements:
Two/three years post registration experience.
NMC Registered.
Stoma or Colorectal background.
Commercial awareness
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Flexibility to meet patient and service needs.
Determination to progress professionally in Stoma/Colorectal nursing.
Full and valid driving licence.
Excellent communication skills, good networker and rapport builder.
Ability to interrogate data and formulate advice, plans of action and reports.

Role Responsibilities:
Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised nursing care of the patient with a stoma or fistula.
Act as the patients' advocate, through effective support and information enabling them to make informed choices and decisions concerning treatment.
Act as a resource of information for cancer screening to the appropriate client group.
Liaise with appropriate hospital staff and community teams to facilitate the provision of high quality care and a seamless service to all patients diagnosed with a stoma.
Establish and maintain good working relationships with the multidisciplinary team and key opinion leaders.
Act as an expert resource for nursing staff involved in the care of patients with stomas/ colorectal disease.
Be aware of current initiatives, research and development in the field of colorectal and stoma care nursing.
Identify own educational needs in relation to the role and set objectives with Managers accordingly.
Maintain the standards set by the NMC for continued effective registration.
Act within the boundaries of the Code of Conduct and Scope of Professional Practice, as defined by the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC).
Provide clinical leadership and direction in colorectal/stoma care with the multidisciplinary team.
Monitor standards and participate in audit as a means of quality assurance and continuous improvement.
Maintain a flexible approach and develop the role in accordance with the requirements of the service.
Participate in planning, implementing and evaluating the objectives of the colorectal and stoma services.
Implement specialised educational programs for pre-and post registration nurses and members of other disciplines.
Be conversant with statutory training requirements and to attend update sessions as required.
Maintain a safe clinical environment for patients within the bounds of responsibility.
