Sales Director - Business Unit Manager


UK, Europe, Asia. Majority of time spent in the UK. Can live in any location, this is not an issue, as long as well connected to the UK road network and willing to travel as required.


The Company has shown significant profit growth over the last few years. As part of its continued growth strategy, the Company has now decided to create dedicated teams to focus on its different ranges of product portfolios.

The newly created role of Sales Director for this Business unit is responsible for the total sales of all products manufactured at one of the Company's UK manufacturing sites, in addition to all 3rd party sourced products strategically introduced to support the development of the brand within the UK and overseas.

This role is at the highest level in the organisation in the UK. The Company is part of a large international organisation. Reporting directly to the parent Company.

In the UK the role encompasses management of:

The National Accounts team

Regionally based Area Sales Managers

Export Sales, controlled through a European based Export Manager

A small development team servicing the pacific rim based out of Asia

The Western Europe sales office, based on the continent.

The Role

Reporting into the European Managing Director.

Looking for a Sales Director / Business Unit Manager to work for an established, market-leading British manufacturer of a high end product.

Responsible for c.£100m P&L; the business strategy for the whole unit; managing UK teams and internationally based teams (Asia and Europe).

Develop the ongoing sales strategy for the Brand portfolio to deliver year on year growth to support the organisations EBITDA stretch targets

Lead the UK and Export teams within their channel to deliver sales, maximising margin and profit against the agreed business plan.

Develop and coach the sales teams to deliver the appropriate business plan through the use of sales programmes, methods and tools.

Analyse market opportunities to develop and implement strategies and increase sales at both a local, national and international level [channel dependant].

Manage the conflicting demands of the various routes to market to enhance individual product margin.

The Person

Commercially astute with proven experience in developing sales across multiple channels

Ability to lead, develop and coach the key members of their team to meet and exceed business expectations.

Create an entrepreneurial environment for themselves and their teams to operate within. Continuously seeking to optimise routes to market and the consumer interface.

Brand aware - has worked developing a premium brand and understands how to maintain a profit margin in all trading conditions.

Work closely with New Product Development and Brand Marketing to identify cohesive consumer propositions.

Play a central role in product selection to support the attainment of sales growth within their channel.

Maintain an up to date awareness of global competition and innovation that would have an impact on sales.

Must have experience of handling a large P&L balance (will consider £35m+; but ideally £80m+, no upper limit). Needs to have been involved in a premium quality product.
