Sports facilities Manager and Sports Practioner

52 weeks a year, Full time and Permanent, GBP25-30k per year (depending on experience)

Our client is looking to recruit a visionary and passionate manager to help them develop the sporting, leisure, and conference facilities on site for school and public use to promote fitness, fun and community cohesion. They aspire to be recognised as a centre of excellence for netball provision.

Set in 8 acres of school grounds, Staffordshire's leading independent Grammar School's facilities include:

  • A modern and fully equipped sports hall including 5 aside football, basketball, netball, volleyball, badminton, hockey and cricket nets
  • A junior hall for hire
  • Newly resurfaced and extended netball and tennis courts
  • Playing fields which includes
    • hockey pitch
    • athletics track
    • football pitches
    • rounders pitches
    • Award winning 6 th form centre offering conferencing facilities for smaller and larger groups
    • On site catering facilities

The successful candidate will have teaching or sports training qualifications and experience as you will be required to assist in the delivery of PE lessons for the school, lead extra-curricular activities and sports clubs and lead/organise the use of our facilities by members of the public, businesses, and local sporting groups. As such, you can be expected to work with people from many different backgrounds and experiences so excellent communication and people skills are essential.

Full administrative support will be provided

The main duties of the role will include, but not be exclusive to:

  • Advertising, promoting and publicising the facilities
  • Taking bookings for the various facilities on offer
  • Leading extra-curricular sporting sessions for pupils and umpiring/refereeing matches where appropriate
  • Organising and leading sports sessions for members of the public
  • Driving forward the vision of the school to provide excellent resources and customer service to the local community and beyond
  • Ensure all Health and Safety policies and guidelines are implemented and adhered to
  • Establish links with local community groups, bodies and organisations to promote and develop the potential of the site
  • Understand the needs and requirements of their customers and ensure that they are met to provide exceptional customer service and satisfaction
  • Assist in the delivery of PE to school pupils
  • Adhere to the UK Code of Practice for Sports Coaches

Candidates must have:

  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Passion, drive, and determination to succeed
  • Relevant management experience
  • Experience of ensuring commercial viability of sporting establishments
  • Flexible approach to work, including evening and weekend work when necessary
  • Ability to prioritise workload
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Relevant National Governing Bodies sports coaching qualifications (Level 2 or above) or QTS in PE

  • Links with local clubs, businesses, and organisations
  • Experience of teaching PE/leading sports sessions to children and adults
  • Be a positive role model to children and inspire them to play sport
  • First aid qualification
  • Develop a netball academy of excellence
