Field Service Engineer - South West England

Currently recruiting for a Field Service Engineer for a global, award winning pharmaceutical business to cover the South West Territory (Birmingham - South Bristol, ideally residing within this area).

This exciting opportunity will allow the ideal candidate to provide field based support to our Water Purification System users where you will be responsible for meeting and exceeding our customer expectations. This involves installation, commissioning, preventative maintenance and emergency repairs for our water purification filtration equipment. This role will also allow you to develop new business opportunities for maintenance contracts, consumable and expendable items. There is the potential to progress through the service organisation or other Merck business fields.

Your role:

Working in close collaboration with our European Sales and Service organization you will have overall responsibility for conducting on-site water purification system installations, maintenance and repairs for our customers.
Extensive product and application training will be provided which will allow the ideal candidate to become an expert practical hands-on trainer for our operator system users.
To record and report all service / repair visits correctly using our service system ServiceMax so we can actively meet and / or exceed the expectations of our customers.
Responsible for actively reporting and exchanging customer experiences and difficulties where you will also identify opportunities with the associated sales people so we can respond accordingly.
Actively report any complaints encountered to the respective service coordinator and/or the field service manager.
Accountable for Service parts inventory within the specified territory where you will manage and follow allocated stock inventory in order to maintain a high first time fix rate.
Responsible for proposing service contracts to customers and for identifying opportunities to supply customers with replacement and/or additional equipment.
Active by ensuring our customers replace consumable items as specified in given service agreements within the recommended timeframe.

Who you are:

Mechanical practical hands on experience would be necessary
Preferably HNC / HND in a mechanical/electronics or Science based discipline
Basic knowledge of chemistry and experience working in a laboratory environment would be advantageous
Computer literateExcellent interpersonal and communication skills - written, verbal, listening.
Ability to promote a strong sense of urgency to complete tasks on time
Ability to solve practical hands on technical problems resourcefully
Report writing skills would be beneficial
Self starter with the ability to work independently, accompanied with strong execution and organizational skills
Excellent team member with the capability of liaising with multi cultural and cross functional teams
