Head of GFN Software Development

Based in Meriden, Coventry

GBP70,000 to GBP80,000 plus car or car allowance

JOB PURPOSE:

We are looking for an energetic leader who is goal focused; ensuring deliverables are met to support our European clients. You will have a need to be a strong communicator as you will be leading both onshore and offshore development teams. This role is responsible for ensuring that GFN client-facing environments are reliable, secure, available, and stable for use by our clients and their customers and merchants as well as support the development of client projects.

This dynamic role has a heavy offshore focus with a small onshore team of SME development staff. We are looking for a leader who is able to take ownership of the existing defined SDLC process and work with a distributed team to deliver work to standards and in a timely manner. The role will require travel to our offshore partners in India and possibly the US.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

?? Ensure the GFN client-facing environments (user acceptance testing and production) are available and operational.

?? Provide technical direction to the GFN development build teams encompassing design, build, and QA (engineering) disciplines.

?? Collaborate with the Client Delivery organisation to ensure consistent and quality interaction with GFN clients.

?? Work with the Application Support, Production Control, Information Security and Risk Compliance, and Infrastructure Support teams to ensure a stable and secure GFN environment.

?? Ensure timely and quality delivery of client projects and defect resolution.

?? Collaborate with the Product Development organisation to ensure a smooth transition of new product releases and successful client upgrades.

?? Assisting with building and managing the budgets for IT projects.

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Proactively managing personal development and recording it through the companies' performance management system.
  • Any other duties as reasonably requested.

SUBORDINATES:

Senior Software Engineers, Software Engineers, Software designers, Onshore and Offshore contract resources.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Internal:

??Key internal relationships across IT and FLEETCOR differing businesses

?? Liaising with design build and support

?? Interfacing with Directors, Managers and project teams across the organisation. IT Planning and Control, USA, HR Business Partner UK

External:

?? FLEETCOR Customers and partners

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

Technical skills:

?? Strong technical and team leadership capabilities

?? Proven experience of managing in-house & off-shore teams

?? Microsoft.NET (C#) programming and development, ASP.NET, SQL, Microsoft TFS, object-oriented design, relational database management systems.

?? Preferred - knowledge of complementary technologies like Talend(ESB), SAP Business Objects, Microsoft Dynamics AX, Salesforce, and Oracle

?? Knowledge of different development methodologies. Experience with Agile methodology and management tools such as Visual Studio or similar tools

?? Relational database and SQL knowledge, Microsoft preferred, Oracle optional

?? High energy, hands-on self-starter with "can do" attitude

?? Ability to work in a cooperative team environment

?? Ability to meet goals and objectives.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

This person needs to have proven experience of development and delivery management in a product development or production support role.

This position requires diverse technical skills - Microsoft.NET (C#) programming and development, ASP.NET, SQL, object-oriented design, and relational database management systems. Strong communication skills are critical to success in this role.

The ideal candidate will have worked in a dynamic environment and will have demonstrated an ability to manage IT development functions.
