My client school are looking for a graduate Teaching Assistant to work with a year 6 class, supporting the teacher and supporting pupils in English and Mathematics. The role is full time, 5 days a week for the duration on the school year and is due commence after the half term and will run for the rest of the academic year.

The school can be found just south of Birmingham city centre, within a vibrant and multicultural community, and the school's diversity reflects this. The school are currently going through a focused program of improvement and the successful Teaching Assistant will support this through their work supporting the class teacher, predominantly in the fields of English and Mathematics, so candidates must have high levels of literacy and numeracy. Candidates will be expected to support both the high and low achievers in school, and will be working and supporting the gifted and talented, as well as pupils who require support to obtain the required attainment levels.

This graduate Teaching Assistant role will provide you with a variety of responsibilities and could involve working with groups or on a more 1-2-1 basis as required. Candidates must be able to form strong working relationships with both students and the class teacher. Candidates need to be extremely flexible, organised with the ability to use their initiative rather than waiting to be told what to do next. They need to be committed to a career in education and want to fully immerse themselves in school life, thus maximising the benefit to the pupils and at the same time their own experience.
