Independent Advocacy is a leading charity in the field of enabling work with people with physical and learning disabilities, older people and those who need support in maintaining their mental health. Our work ranges from providing statutory Mental Health and Care Act Advocacy to delivering practical help, at home, through our Community Support Team. We also support vulnerable people in managing their day to day finances. We have an ambitious programme to further develop the support we offer.

This is an exciting and varied role working alongside the Chief Executive to ensure that the organisation operates effectively. The post offers opportunities to contribute to interesting organisational projects that will make a real difference to our service users.

Your work will include supporting the Board and Chief Executive on governance, including attending Board and Committee meetings and preparing agendas, reports and minutes. You will also be a key member of the team in developing our external presence via our website and social media and in preparing internal and external communications.

The role also involves working with the Chief Executive on Human Resources, Health and Safety and creating and managing databases essential to our work.


With the support of the Office Administrator, a post you will line manage, you will oversee the smooth day to day administration of the office and reception services.

To be successful in this role you will need:

The ability to format high quality reports, including graphics and charts.

Excellent administration  skills and the ability to work  on your own initiative
An awareness and commitment to maintaining confidentiality where necessary and adhering to data protection requirements.

An interest in contributing to wider team projects aimed at developing our services.
