My client, KEMP Hospice is an adult day hospice, based in Kidderminster, providing support to patients, families and carers dealing with life limiting illness and bereavement across the whole Wyre Forest. Established for over 35 years, KEMP is not only well loved by the community, but it really is a great place to work, where staff are encourage to use their strengths to succeed and to thrive. This is a brand new position for KEMP and a very exciting prospect for the right person. .

Main purpose of the role:

The PR and Communications Officer has a key role to play in planning and delivering communications to key groups, such as supporters, volunteers or staff. The post holder will write, edit, co-ordinate and publish content across various channels, including the KEMP Hospice website, social media, and print and online marketing materials.

Key areas of responsibility to include:

Field inquiries from stakeholders including journalists, politicians and service users
Create press releases and statements as needed and develop and manage media relationships
Produce, edit and distribute updates and materials for external and internal audiences, dealing sensitively with those whose personal experiences might be featured
Develop, manage and update content for website and maintain social media accounts
Handle sensitive social media issues
Plan and create multi-media communications materials
Design, write content for and send all e-newsletters
Ensure consistent branding is used and act as a brand champion


Person specification to include:

Experience of working in a PR, communications, or Marketing environment in a paid or voluntary role
Ability to communicate effectively with staff, patients, clients, children and families
Ability and experience in writing press releases for a variety of audiences
Ability to identify communications priorities within a communications, Marketing or PR environment and deliver these in a way that meets audience needs
Experience of working in a PR, Communications or Marketing role for a charity or non-profit organisation is desierable
Experience of managing the design and print process including liaising with print companies, editing and proof reading
Confident and assertive with a cheerful and positive outlook and attitude
