Quality Leader – Engineering/Manufacturing


Salary: £23k Circa (pro rata)

Permanent / Part Time

We are searching for a part time Quality Leader, to oversee compliance to the company’s quality system (under ISO9001), who can also provide general quality and technical support to the business, to join a worldwide leading manufacturer for the automotive industry.

Ideally the successful candidate could come from a small engineering/manufacturing company that has had, as a minimum, ISO9001 registration. This role is suitable for a candidate looking to reduce their hours to approximately 20 hours a week.

Candidate Requirements:

  • A hands-on, production supervision/management background, not a highly technical quality engineer
  • Understands the necessity of having and following clearly documented and understood procedures and work instructions
  • Keep detailed and easily accessible records
  • An understanding of the multi-tasking that a small business requires.
  • Good practical experience of working in a business running ISO9001
  • Knowledge of the requirements of the quality system, also proven in applying the system to the ‘shop-floor’, using the system to delivery quality product, on time and in full, and driving improvements in efficiency and output
The Job:

  • Contract reviews, ensuring that customer’s requirements are clearly stated and that the company has the ability to meet these.
  • Development and upkeep of work instructions and procedures.
  • Operators training using the work instructions and procedures.
  • Monitoring progress/output against these and updating plans accordingly.
  • Keep up-to-date quality records such as Inspection Records, Training records, Calibration etc.
  • Internal auditing, managing external auditors including BSI certification.
  • Any experience of the new ISO 9001 2015 standard would be a bonus.
  • Setting and meeting KPI’s and using these to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Working with the wider management team ensuring that any customer complaints are dealt with promptly, root cause analysis to identify the issue and making sure that the problem doesn’t reoccur.
