The good news is that our continued success and business growth has opened up a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic, ambitious and engaging Assistant Accountant to join our successful Screwfix contract at our new site due to open November 2017 in Lichfield (Fradley Park).

Screwfix (part of the Kingfisher group) have over 500 Trade Counters as well as a full ecommerce next day service. We operate over 2m sq ft of warehousing and have 2,500 colleagues and 350 trailers dedicated to the contract. Fulfilling multi-channel solutions designed around the customer experience, the growth of the Screwfix business has been 14% year on year.

The Lichfield site will support the existing Stafford operation to provide seamless replenishment of over 3 million units per week to the Trade Counter retail network.

Role Profile
  • Reporting to the Site Accountant with line management responsibility of a Reception function.

  • Assisting the Site Accountant controlling all aspects of the Finance function ensuring accurate and timely reporting both to Screwfix and Wincanton.

  • Preparation of Customer weekly accounts and KPI's including open book reconciliations.

  • Completion of Wincanton weekly and month end accounts, balance sheets and open book reconciliations.

  • Assist with collation of annual budget and quarterly forecasts.

  • Production of sales invoices and debt information.

  • Management of purchasing process.

  • Support payroll functions, particularly during peak periods.

  • Providing functional cover for other finance roles where required (holidays etc).

Person Profile
  • A part qualified Accountant would be preferable but relevant experience will be considered.

  • Developed numerical and literacy skills are essential, combined with the ability to translate financial / commercial issues to a non-financial audience.

  • Advanced level Microsoft Excel skills necessary including the ability to create complex formulae.

  • Ability to learn several systems quickly and thoroughly.

  • Ability to work accurately under pressure and adhere to tight deadlines.

  • Strong interpersonal skills in order to develop effective relationships within the customer and Wincanton businesses.

  • An influential and challenging individual, able to motivate and develop self and others.

  • High levels of personal drive, to both work independently and to balance the demands of a major contract.

  • Ability to work within a fast paced and rapidly changing environment.

  • Be able to communicate clearly on all levels and remain professional under pressure.
