We now have an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Manager to work for one of the global leaders in the logistics industry.

The successful candidate will need to have expertise in the Logistics industry, be a proactive, dedicated and results driven individual. They will be responsible for sourcing their own leads, identifying business opportunities, negotiating rates, closing the sale and Customer Account Management.


This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of Europe's leading logistics providers.

Your role will cover the West Midlands sales territory selling a multi modal service mainly European road freight services. Managing the complete sales cycle from identifying prospective clients, making your own appointments, visiting clients to sell import and export services worldwide.

As a strategic account executive, your primary responsibility will be to successfully execute the sales process to generate revenue growth through initiation and development of business opportunities with new and existing customers within a designated geographic territory.

Proactively identify, pursue, and maintain a constant pipeline of potential customers that meet or exceed established quotas via prospecting, networking and referral activities within a regional market.

Build strategic relationships with key contacts within customer organisations to understand opportunities for creating value.

Establish relationships with strategic customers with decision making authority and / or influence.

An in-depth understanding of the customer's business model.

Identify and propose logistics solutions to customers utilising company products and services that translate into closed, business deals.

Embrace a culture of integrity and professionalism, and utilise this value-based selling methodology in all sales pursuits.

Identify opportunities for customer growth.

Facilitate regular meetings with clients and relevant operations staff to evaluate performance and receive updates from clients on challenges and future plans.

Undertake cross-selling and up-selling within existing customer base to further develop account potential through road freight, air freight, sea freight, value added products and contract logistics.


Minimum of 2 years experience selling Road Freight services or equivalent experience gained while working for a competitor in a sales / account management role in maybe Air & Ocean services.

The candidate should be self-motivated and highly driven.

Demonstrated success in developing sales plans, analysing profitability of prospects, and the ability to understand the competitive influences and risks associated with individual accounts.

Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to persuade, influence, negotiate and make formal presentations in meetings and training environments.

Good time management techniques.

Proven "business-to-business" sales experience in the Freight Forwarding or Logistics industry.


Salary up to £30,000 to £35,000 + bonus + car.
