Job purpose

  • Managing projects and discreet pieces of work including consultation programmes;
  • Dealing with complex HR employment related matters at appeal and tribunal stage;
  • Managing the EDI action plan;
  • Providing support & guidance to the HR Advisor (HRA) and HR Officer (HRO) on all HR casework and ER activity.

This position is offered as an 8 month fixed term contract to provide cover for current role holder.



Responsibilities

  • Providing professional advice, guidance and support to Line Managers in respect of complex HR issues up to and including ET level;
  • Coaching and mentoring managers in all aspects of the employee life cycle;
  • Managing the consultation process for the move to our new premises in Q1 2018;
  • Building and maintaining effective and positive relationships;
  • Providing advice to managers in relation to employment law and impact on process and procedures;
  • Supporting managers in respect of exit strategies including pre termination negotiations;
  • Managing the EDI action plan, co-ordinating activities and supporting Diversity Champions in the business;
  • Overseeing casework to ensure these are managed effectively;
  • Supporting the delivery of the HR strategic objectives;
  • Upskilling and supporting the HRA and HRO in areas of development;
  • Supporting the team to ensure best value service is provided to the business;
  • Review policies and procedures to ensure these are up to date and in line with legislative requirements;
  • Supporting implementation of the General Data Protection regulations as appropriate;
  • Leading on TUPE processes if required;
  • Supporting the cascade of communication in relation to reward and benefits;
  • Producing management level reports on key areas of responsibility;
  • To be aware of business continuity processes via Line Manager.


Knowledge skills & experience

  • Experienced in managing the TUPE transfer process e.g. undertaking consultation, managing contractual issues;
  • Chartered member of CIPD;
  • Experienced in negotiating pre termination negotiations and compromise agreements;
  • Experienced in liaising with ACAS in dispute resolution;
  • Proven experience of providing advice and guidance to line managers in all aspects of employment law and company policy/procedure;
  • In depth and current knowledge of employment law and its application in the workplace;
  • Experience of chairing and supporting disciplinary hearings to appeal level;
  • Experience of dealing with complex case management;
  • Experience of attendance management principles and cases;
  • Demonstrable experience of implementing organisational change;
  • Experience of leading on equality and diversity action plans/strategy;
  • Experience of large scale consultation activity;
  • Experience in mentoring and developing others,
  • Experience in leading diversity initiatives;
  • Experience of working within the construction industry (highly desirable);
  • Ability to deliver against plans and strategy in a timely manner;
  • Strong collaborative working;
  • Chartered member of CIPD;
  • Demonstrable CPD.

Please note, we will be relocating from our current office in Erdington, Birmingham to our new Head Quarters in Bickenhill Lane, Solihull from Q1 2018.
