We have an excellent opportunity for someone to join our growing Purchasing Department. We are looking for someone with an excellent grasp of Excel (e.g. Pivot Tables and V Lookups) together with robust Communication skills and excellent attention to detail
The main responsibilities would include:
·Gathering, collating and analysing all types of purchasing and supply chain data.
·Assisting in the sourcing of new and alternative products and services for the business, especially in analyzing the supplier and product markets, current TBS usage, forecasts and costs, company needs and specifications.
·Helping the Senior Buyer and Head of Purchasing to implement Category Management.
·Assist in the creation of a set of KPIs and their measurement to fully reflect the performance and influence of the function
·Updating of and reporting on Purchasing KPIs as required.
·Presenting data analyses and supplier information to the Purchasing team and stakeholders in the business.
·Support service level and quality reporting as necessary.
·Work with internal customers to help them specify and receive products and services meeting their needs and those of the wider business and its customers.
·Cover of roles during holidays and sickness as and when required
·General departmental administrative duties.
·Scan and copy relevant documentation into archive systems.
·Assist with regular stock and lead time reviews.
·Project management of routine contracts/agreements/scheduled orders.
·Help with processing (placing, sending, confirming and archiving) purchase orders for non-stock items.
·Ensure all reports are kept up to date and forwarded to the correct departments where necessary
·Liaise with suppliers and stakeholders with a high standard of communication
·Interrogate, analyse and understand supply chain, demand planning and forecasting data
·Assist in dealing with goods to be returned, rejected, reworked etc.
·Review ERP system for accurate data, optimum purchasing parameters and correct pricing.
·Play a lead role in keeping the integrity and undertaking the routine cleansing of purchasing data in the ERP system
·Help with the maintenance and setting up of new suppliers and parts in the ERP system as necessary.
Knowledge and Skills
·O'level, ‘GCSE' or equivalent in English, Science and Maths.
·Some exposure to laboratory science and/or commercial experience and familiarity with office procedures
·PC literate – Excellent working knowledge of MS Office, with a high level in Excel. Highly adept at learning IT related processes.
·Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise projects and overall workload. Good communicator, team-player, with a “customer service” attitude. Works systematically and accurately with attention to detail. Be committed to and demonstrate enthusiasm to learn current purchasing practice and developments which will include participating in some training courses.
·‘A' levels or equivalent in commercially relevant subjects, further qualifications in science, business or Purchasing (ideally CIPS).
·Understanding of laboratory science and associated required goods and services.
·Experience in working with an ERP system, demand planning or purchasing systems/software.
·Typing skills and full driving licence.
·Understanding of demand planning, forecasting or project planning processes and software.
