Our client is a well-established engineering manufacturer serving a number of industry sectors including the aerospace and defence industries.

We are currently recruiting for a Quality Inspector on either a day or night shift.This position is to be based in the Birmingham area and is easily commutable from Redditch, Worcester, Droitwich, Bromsgrove, Stratford, Tamworth, Coventry and Warwick.

Reporting directly to the Quality Project Engineer, the Quality Inspector will be fully accountable for the consolidation of all CMM programmes into the common language of PCDMIS, to liaise with the Quality Project Engineer, production and engineering to ensure inspection support for running production parts and new product introduction (NPI), support on release inspection / receipt inspect and non-conformance activities

Main duties and Responsibilities:

  • To carry out 1st off inspection (CMM / Manual) / receipt inspection / inspection & calibration activities as required to support operations.

  • To liaise closely with engineering to ensure the smooth transition of new products – New product Introduction (NPI)

  • Running and where required editing CMM programmes using PCDIMIS analysing results and making appropriate quality decisions

  • To support the internal non- conformance process, raising rejects and ensuring all containment is captured

  • Completion of FAIR packs by means of CMM / manual inspection

  • To perform other such duties as generally correspond to the nature of the position and its level of responsibility.

    Key Success Criteria:

  • To assist with internal colleagues when non – conformance is identified

  • Ensure that a common process is embedded and adopted for the inspection of all customer products

  • Maintain an effective Key Performance Indicator that monitors BIB,S internal RFT measures across all manufacturing stages.

    Qualifications / experience needed for the quality inspector role:

  • Understanding of PCDIMIS operation (CMM)

  • Apprentice trained but not essential

  • Worked within an aerospace / automotive production environment for more than 5 years

  • Proven track record on inspection techniques and understanding of geometric tolerance.
