The primary purpose of the Senior Financial Accountant is to support the Senior Leadership team in the operational and people management of the General Ledger team in the preparation and management of divisional financial accounts, providing support to multiple Group divisions for commercial decision making.

The Senior Financial Accountant is a key role in developing and maintaining stakeholder relationships within divisions, Group Finance and the wider business network

Robert Walters are working with an International South Birmingham Brand to appoint a suitably experienced Qualified Senior Financial Accountant for a newly created role, working with a hands on Financial Leadership team seeking someone who is keen to make a move into a business with career advancement and opportunity.

Most likely, you will be fully qualified and working in either an audit or a financial accounting role already, wanting to step forward in your own career, stepping up to a role with people management and a bigger remit as part of your next career step where you can expect be responsible for:

  • Preparing and completing the month-end close
  • Producing detailed month-end analysis and coordinating the appropriate communication to Divisional Finance
  • Assisting in the posting of general journals
  • Working with colleagues across Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and General Ledger to ensure that queries are resolved and month-end close is controlled
  • Reconciling divisional systems to group reporting systems to ensure accurate underlying data
  • Ensuring accounts are prepared in accordance with IFRS and Group policy
  • Providing detailed analysis of cost variances as required by the division
  • Ensuring all module close and cut-off procedures are followed
  • Ensuring all requirements for Group reporting are met
  • Preparation and submission of VAT returns
  • Preparing financial reporting packs at half-year and full year-end
  • Completing the annual tax pack
  • Providing assistance to internal and external audit teams, and
  • Achieving other agreed deliverables to deadline as agreed with Senior Finance Leadership team
  • Continually reviewing tasks and processes to ensure most efficient and effective approach applied
  • Ensuring process notes are maintained for each piece of recurring work
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with Divisional Finance
  • Managing transition of work to the General Ledger team, and
  • Completing other ad hoc tasks as requested by Head of Finance
