Royal Mail Fleet is looking for a Supply Governance Manager to work on creating and maintaining contracts directly with external suppliers of our fleet, including direct management of hire vans and trailers whilst ensuring that internal records and processes are adhered to throughout the business.

This is an exciting role that incorporates fleet procurement, contract management and building stakeholder relationships across the business.

About the role

Working in collaboration with group procurement you will bring in operational expertise and knowledge of fleet to ensure that all fleet contracts are developed with adequate KPI’s and SLA’s and that once awarded they are monitored and recorded throughout the business.


You will have direct supplier responsibility for the in-life contract management of our trailer suppliers and our hire supply chain. With a budget of circa £100M this will include the critical extra requirements that our Christmas operations need throughout the business.

Being responsible for the governance of all fleet suppliers you will ensure that any penalty clauses are enforced alongside governance and control of internal reporting tools that will see you manage both suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Using your stakeholder management and negotiation skills you will liaise with managers of all levels across the business to ensure that standard reporting templates and scorecards are used in order to monitor the supplier performance.

About you


Having worked in a fleet management or vehicle hire capacity you will have good working knowledge of fleet procurement including supplier and contract management and have proven experience in designing and negotiating contracts for vans, heavy goods vehicles and large trailer hire.


Being highly analytical and numerical you will have the ability to analyse and audit suppliers using structured methodologies and ideally have some knowledge of public procurement law.

You will have excellent communication and presentation skills, proven experience of stakeholder and relationship management at all levels as well as excellent problem solving and negotiation skills.

Ideally you will possess the CPC qualification in road haulage

This role can be based in Northampton, Wolverhampton or Chesterfield and involves significant travel across the UK.
