We are actively looking to recruit Senior Forensic Psychologist into our skilled and supportive Psychology team.
HMP Dovegate is a Category B training prison based near Uttoxeter in Staffordshire and is one of many diverse contracts run by Serco a FTSE 250 international service company.
The Psychological Services department is based solely at HMP Dovegate and has a diverse delivery of psychological work throughout the prison. We are in the unique position of not only having a large Category B population, with designated wings for remand, drug intervention and vulnerable prisoners, but also a separate 200-bed Therapeutic Prison, split into six Therapeutic Communities (TCs).
The work of Psychological Services includes psychological assessment, individual intervention, post-TC assessment and accredited Offending Behaviour group work, in addition to non-accredited group interventions. We are actively involved in research at the prison, training staff and consultancy where psychology work can assist in decision-making throughout the prison. This has included self-harm and suicidal ideation, violence reduction, personality disorder and behavioural management.
As a Senior Forensic Psychologist will assist in managing and administering the delivery of Psychological Services for HMP Dovegate at a senior level. You will be accountable for co-ordinating and/or Designated Supervisor for Forensic Psychologists in Training enrolled on Stage 2 of the DFP Diploma alongside line management duties for Registered Forensic Psychologists or Forensic Psychologists in Training.
You would also complete psychological assessments of prisoners including HCR-20, WAIS, IPDE and PCL-r in addition to completing parole reports for prisoners complying with deadlines, and providing a consultancy role to other managers to assist in the continuing development of the prison.
As a minimum you will be a Forensic Psychologist registered with HCPC and Chartered with BPS including full membership of the Division of Forensic Psychology. It would be desirable if you had PCL-r certification and published research.
You must be able to able evidence significant post registration or chartership experience of working as a Forensic Psychologist. Experience of working with offenders and carrying out assessments and interventions with a forensic population is also a requirement of the role.
- Strong research skills alongside excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience of writing Parole reports for life sentenced prisoners, completing HCR-20, PCL-r, IPDE assessments and WAIS, VRS.
Experience of supervising others.
Experience in delivery and management of accredited offending behaviour programmes.
Experience of working therapeutically with personality disordered offenders.

The FTE salary for this position is £48,000 per annum (Pro Rata). This role will require you to work 32 hours per week (part time) we are flexible in terms of days/ hours of work and this will be discussed further at interview stage.
