Lead Environmental Advisor / Environmental Manager - Midlands (multi-site, part home, part office) - civil engineering / rail contractor - up to £40k-50k+package dependent on qualifications and level of experience

The Role:
Lead environmental specialist for th company, role includes supporting the Head of HSEQ to set policy and standards as well as undertaking site visits and delivering support to site teams, assisting them to recognise hazards, minimize risk and improving the environmental standards in the workplace. The role also includes acting as the Company champion and role model for all environmental issues, making sure that relevant legislation is adhered to, in addition to assisting in planning, implementing, monitoring and reviewing the HSE strategies.

Key Responsibilities:
Lead the environmental function across the business
Act as a central point of environmental advice, utilising specialist consultants where appropriate, to assist site management to comply with our environmental requirements and share best practice
Under guidance of the Head of HSEQ set internal standards to continually raise performance and meet customer requirements
Assist wider HSEQ team on environmental matters
Maintain legal environmental register and confirm new legislation requirements and impacts to the Head of HSEQ
Produce and report on environmental performance
Communication and meetings
Attend client meetings and support their environmental initiatives
Maintain external liaison and learning, and circulate
Develop and deliver environmental training courses

Reporting and analysis:
Identify environmental good practice for inclusion in Company communications
Monitor and review environmental performance data to drive improvements
Undertake site inspections and audits to programme
Undertake incident investigation to learn lessons and implement improvements

Key measures & targets:
Undertake site visits
Maintain accreditations

Substantial experience in a similar role, but may be looking for the next step into a lead role
Environmental degree (or equivalent) or experience of on or off site support in construction, infrastructure or consultancy sectors, or associated industries
Affiliate or Associate IEMA or equivalent qualification is desirable
Effective communicator with excellent presentation and report writing skills
Excellent team player, with the ability to liaise with all levels of staff including senior managers and operatives
