The Client

• The Client is a leading, national house-builder that has a well invested land bank and award winning track record for producing high volume speculative housing across the country. Their name is synonymous with quality private and social new build residential properties, and their working environment is notoriously exciting, fast paced and team orientated.
• Due to a recent restructure, the Client is currently seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to work within a team and act as the central co-ordinating factor on the procurement and delivery of the engineering packages for a number of their housing developments.

The role

• As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for the delivery of the engineering packages on the life cycle of each project from procurement to handover, and will be required to undertake the design and supervision of the civil engineering projects in order to provide a quality and cost effective service in line with group's budget.

Typical activities include:
• To undertake the design and supervision of projects from initial briefing through to adoption within the specified timescales
• To allocate work tasks to junior members of staff appropriate to their skills and experience
• To carry our all necessary functions to assist the smooth running of the area team
• To undertake the designs achieving practical, economic and saleable solutions.
• To provide technical advice within the Department for planning applications, etc
• Specific activities including infrastructure appraisals, drainage design, highway design
• Utilisation of computer aided design software, drainage design software and PDS modelling
• Liaison with Service Authorities and production of combined service drawings
• Checking of work to ensure projects are economic and in line with acquisition budgets
• Preparation of infrastructure delivery programmes
• Supervision of works on-site when necessary to ensure delivery of programme

Relevant Experience

• In-depth knowledge of CAD
• Knowledge of other engineering packages (Micro Drainage, PDS)
• Able to analyse complex data and critically evaluate plans
• Commercial awareness in time, capital and reputational cost
• Capable of pre-empting and communicating risk
• Understanding of changes to regulations and legislation
