My client, a highly acquisitive international engineering group is looking to recruit the key position of Planning and Logistics Manager.

Key areas of responsibility include -

Responsible for developing the Manufacturing Resource Planning, and support implementation of ERP system.

Conduct analysis of distribution requirements and negotiate tariffs to maintain appropriate inventory levels throughout the supply chain.

Manage the financial plan and budget for the distribution network by controlling finished goods inventory, working with forecast and setting appropriate standards and goals.

Provides strategic leadership to integrate Logistics, Planning and supply chain function.

Ensure an effective line of communication to all department personnel and to appropriate corporate personnel at all times.

Performance manage Material Controllers and Logistics team.

Manage supplier base, ensuring adherence to delivery schedules in line with production requirements, supplier lead times, lean manufacturing procedures and Stores/Warehousing capacity.

Advise Production and Sales of any delivery delays to ensure product can be re-planned and customers warned of delays.

Additional skills -

Over 5 years' experience in manufacturing industry, in particular SME.
Excellent leadership skills with a proven ability to lead, manage and develop teams.
Relevant supervisory/management and planning qualification.
Outstanding communication skills
PC literate, experience in computerised planning system, and fully conversant with ERP system (J D Edwards preferred).
